Welcome Back Falcons!
We are going to have another fantastic year together! Everyone at Fern is excited to see you again and we can’t wait to get started with teaching and learning!
At Fern, we continue to utilize technology at its maximum, and will continue being paperless this year. Fliers will all be sent through PeachJar and are also posted on our website. Look for the PeachJar tab on our webiste, http://fern.fullertonsd.org.
Please make sure that the office has a current email for you. If you don’t have one, please come to the office and we will make alternate arrangements. A weekly email will be sent on Sunday that will provide you with Fern Falcon information.
Ongoing communication is important to the staff at Fern Drive. We want our families to be up to date on information and learning activities. We encourage you to utilize our website http://fern.fullertonsd.org.
If you are on social media, you can follow us on Twitter @FernFalcons; Instagram: Fern_Drive_Falcons and Facebook - Fern Drive Principal to stay caught up on what is going on throughout the school day! We also have a feedback site where we encourage families to leave us feedback, report something, share ideas or leave a solution to an issue. http://bit.ly/2wVRUhS
August 10th @ 4:00pm - PTA Ice Cream Social/Class lists are posted! Check out this year’s new Spirit Wear! Come join us for some fun!
August 13th - First Day of School
For safety reasons, students are only allowed on campus after 8:00 a.m. This is due to supervision - prior to 8:00 a.m. there are no supervisors on the playground.
Our readiness bell rings at 8:25. All students are expected to be on campus at this time.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m., TK/K students go to the kinder playground located at the front of the school. Teachers will meet students on the playground when the readiness bell rings at 8:25. Parents are allowed to be on the playground the first week of school only. Starting on August 20th, please give your good-byes at the gate.
First - Third grade Falcons will line up on the primary blacktop, fourth - sixth grade Falcons are to line up on the upper grade blacktop. Look for the sign with your room number, and line up there. Teachers will meet students on the playground at their designated spots when the readiness bell rings at 8:25.
School begins at 8:30. Please do NOT take students to the classrooms - all students need to be on the black top.
At dismissal time, TK and Kindergarten dismisses at their classrooms. All first - third grade Falcons are released at the front of the school. Fourth - sixth grade Falcons are released on the Fern Drive side of school. Please ensure that your Falcon is picked up on time.
For safety reasons, please wait for your First - Third students on the grass at the front of the school, as teachers bring students to the front. Wait for your Fourth - Sixth Grade Falcons on the hill under the pine trees on Fern Drive. Do not come onto the campus prior to the dismissal bell.
Traffic will be very congested - plan on arriving early, but please follow traffic guidelines.
Enter from Fern Drive and exit on Pico. Fern Drive is a one way entry point.
Please drive at a slow rate of speed and observe drop off procedures and follow the signs and directions of staff. We want all our Falcons to be safe! If you are parking, please park in the marked stalls or on the street. Make sure you observe the no parking signs.
Please observe parking regulations and safety by not encouraging students to cross the street in the midst of traffic on Pico and on Fern Drive.
Instructional time is very important to us. We ask that younger siblings not play on campus while you wait for dismissal.
If your students walks home via the service road next to the school is it HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for safety reasons, they not walk alone - it is always best for a parent or authorized adult to be present with them. Again, this is for safety reasons. Thank you for your support with these guidelines.
Wednesdays at Fern Drive are restructured days. Kindergarten - Sixth grade students arrive their usual time, and are released at 1:15.
All TK students are on an early bird schedule on Wednesday. They need to be on their playground, ready to go by 8:25 and are dismissed at 12:10.
Students can bring a lunch or buy. You have two options for purchasing a school lunch. You can bring in money to the office or you can visit the Nutrition Services website http://fullertonnutrition.org and go to the My School Bucks link to pre pay. This is where the lunch menu is located as well.
Finally, if you want to volunteer or visit the campus, please sign in at the office and receive your visitor’s badge - make sure you have your Driver’s License, as we use Raptor Visitor Management in Fullerton School District. If you have any questions, please call the office at 714-447-7710.
We are so excited about seeing you this year! See you soon!!!
