ELAC

ELAC promotes parent support for our English Language Learners and the English Language Development (ELD) program at Fern Drive Elementary School. At the meetings, information is disseminated to parents regarding current school activities and programs. ELAC also provides training opportunities for parents to support their child’s language development at home. The trainings and its topics are scheduled based on a needs assessment completed by parents at the first meeting. They also provide input on the most effective ways to support full participation of English Learners in all school activities. ELAC also gives input on the most effective ways to ensure regular school attendance. Most importantly, it provides the opportunity to have Fern Drive representation at the district level by the attendance of elected officials at the District English Language Advisory Council (DELAC) meetings. DELAC meeting dates will be added soon. Agendas will be posted 72 hours before each meeting.
